Short Description:
The "Mission Shakti" is a unified women's empowerment program initiated by the state government from the financial year 2021-22 to 2025-26, under the 15th Finance Commission. Under the Mission Shakti scheme, two sub-schemes, "Sambal" and "Samriddhi," are being implemented. "Samriddhi" focuses on the empowerment of women.
To enhance the safety and empowerment of women, the "Shakti Sadan" scheme is being implemented by merging two centrally sponsored schemes, "Swadhar" and "Ujjwala." As per government resolution, starting from the financial year 2022-23, the "Shakti Sadan" scheme will be implemented in the state.

Scheme Details:
Entrance into the institution will be open to any woman without a spouse, who has received non-spousal support, and girls up to 12 years of age. Women who require long-term shelter arrangements can stay in "Shakti Sadan" for a maximum of three years. In the case of victims, the relevant district authorities can grant permission for them to stay in "Shakti Sadan" after their three-year period has ended. However, women above the age of 55 will be allowed to stay in "Shakti Sadan" for a maximum of five years. Afterward, they will be relocated to old age homes or similar institutions.
Procedure to Apply:
Dependent, homeless women can temporary reside in "Shakti Sadan" immediately for three years.
