in Maharastra state 16 districts  have been selected under the scheme.As per the census of 2001, 2011 and the data obtained in November, 2016, the scheme is implemented in the districts where the birth rate of girls per thousand male children is low.

Following are the districts where the scheme is being implemented Kolhapur, Sangli, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Buldhana, Washim, Solapur, Pune, Latur, Nashik, Hingoli, Osmanabad and Parbhani districts.

The scheme is a centrally sponsored and the funds required to implement this scheme are distributed by the central government to the accounts of the concerned district collector.Under this campaign, the following strategy has been decided through Integrated Child Development Service Yojana

• To create permanent communication in society for equal status and educational promotion of girl child
• To create awareness in the society about the declining child sex ratio and increase the girl child birth rate
• Creating an integrated and actionable plan with more focus on districts and cities where the girl child birth rate is low.
• Various organizations and service departments at district, taluka and lower levels
• Coordination.

Details

Under this scheme, many programs are implemented under Jan Jagran campaign to increase the birth rate of girls. Such as registration of expectant mothers, public awareness about welcoming the birth of girls, celebrating birthdays, organizing health camps, guidance on saving the girl child - educating the girl child, Guddaguddi boards with the number of births of boys and girls and putting them up in public places, street plays, various competitions at the district level.

Taking etc. In the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme of the central government, gudda-guddi boards were used to create public awareness in order to increase the birth rate of girls. In this, birth figures of boys and girls were shown on boards in crowded places like bus stations, railway stations, hospitals, schools, colleges, district taluka offices. These boards have been created through public participation.

With the main objective of increasing the child sex ratio in the state, the Women and Child Development Department of the state has implemented the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana of the Central Government in ten districts namely Beed, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar, Buldhana, Aurangabad, Washim, Kolhapur, Osmanabad Sangli and Jalna.

The ambitious objectives of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme are as follows:

• Prevention of gender selection due to prejudiced approach. (Prevention of Feticide)
• Ensuring the survival and protection of girls
• Ensuring education and social participation of girls

Districts were awarded special awards by the Hon'ble Minister Ministry of Women and Child Development (Government of India) for their outstanding work in the areas of effective community engagement, implementation of pre-natal gender diagnosis screening, and empowerment of girls in early childhood education. National Girl Child Day has been honored on 24th January, 2017.

Mechanism for implementing the campaign:-

For planning, implementation and control (district, taluka and village panchayat) the district action team is working and its chairman is the collector. It has systems like Health and Family Welfare, Panchayat Raj, Village Development and Police Department as other departments.
