This scheme is applicable to women who have registered for childbirth at government primary health centers or government hospitals in the state of Maharashtra, and who give birth to their first child (either a boy or a girl) at hospital facilities.

As per Government Resolution No. ICDS-2018/Pr.Cir.151/KA-6 dated December 29, 2018, the Baby Care Kit Scheme has been implemented in the state of Maharashtra. Under this scheme, newborn babies (boys or girls) born to mothers who have registered for childbirth at government primary health centers or government hospitals are eligible to receive a free baby care kit provided by the government. The kit includes essential items and is available up to a maximum amount of Rs. 2000/-.
Each baby care kit contains (1) Baby clothes (2) Plastic nappies (3) Baby sleeping mat (4) Baby towels (5) Temperature measuring device Electronics thermometer (6) Baby oil- 250 ml . (7) Mosquito Net (8) Baby Warm Blanket (9) Small Mat Plastic (10) Baby Shampoo- 60ml (11) Baby Toy- Loose (12) Baby Nail Cutter (13) Baby Nail Cutter Gloves and socks (14) Hand washing liquid for mother of babies (15) Cloth for wrapping baby/ woolen cloth for mother (16) Body wash liquid for baby (17) Small bag for keeping all materials etc. Materials are included.
Criteria / Procedure to apply
Women who have registered their names at government primary health centers/government hospitals and have given birth to a child in the 9th month of pregnancy should provide information/application to the Anganwadi worker at the Anganwadi center after registration. After receiving the information/application from the Anganwadi worker, the beneficiaries are provided with the Baby Care Kit bag.
